Gregory E. Birchfield, age 74, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Greg was born in Circleville, Ohio, to Samuel Lewis and Barbara Ann Birchfield. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including visiting the Park of Roses, feeding the ducks, going out for coffee, enjoying a good Milky Way candy bar, and riding the COTA bus. Greg was truly grateful for the friends and staff at Open Door Columbus, who were an important part of his life. His family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Open Door for the care, kindness, and friendship they have shown Greg since 2002.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stephen Birchfield. He is survived by his brother, Samuel Birchfield; aunts, Hazel Cox and Ercell Baldwin; along with a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Advantage Funeral Service by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where the funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
