He was born on September 4, 1953, in Fairborn, Ohio, to the late John and Aileen (Gregory) Richards. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his soul dog, Sadie. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 40 years, Cherie (Dahlinghaus) Richards; daughters Olivia Richards and partner Ryland Hormel and Sofia Richards and husband Blake Kennemer; brothers, Thomas Richards (Sandy) and John Richards (Cheri); along with many relatives and friends. He leaves behind people, and a world, made better by his presence.
Greg wasn’t just a beloved chiropractor- he was a healer, a leader, and a man who fully embodied honesty and integrity. As the owner of Hilliard Rome Chiropractic, he cared for his community with both his hands and his heart, also serving as President of both the Hilliard Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio State Chiropractic Association. But titles were never what defined him.
Greg was a deeply loved husband, and from the very beginning, Cherie knew their love was something special. On their second date, she told him they were going to get married- and she was right. For 40 years, they built a life together filled with laughter, resilience and countless dances in the kitchen to Stevie Wonder. He was a devoted father, never missing a dance recital, a father-daughter dance, or a sports game. He was a man of the outdoors, someone who could name every tree on sight and felt most at home with a fishing pole in hand or a campfire crackling nearby. A lifelong Boy Scout, he carried that adventurous spirit with him always. Every Saturday morning when his daughters were young, he took them to the zoo, sharing his love of nature and wonder with them. Music was another great love- he never missed a good concert, and his soundtrack to life was as multi-faceted as he was.
Guided by the Golden Rule, Greg showed up for people in quiet, meaningful ways that mattered most. He had a sharp wit and a knack for making people laugh. Even after his diagnosis, his humor never wavered- he met life’s hardest moments with strength and a joke.
To know him was to love him. And to love him was an absolute gift.
His presence will forever be felt in the trees he could name, the waters he fished, the music he loved, and the countless lives he touched.
