Harold Dewitt Bower, or “HB”, “H” or “Grandpa BB” to those who knew and loved him most, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024 under the incredible care of Kobacker House. Harold was born to Mary “Wilt” Bower (Shouldis) on March 10, 1952 and was loved by Frank “Bear” Bower, who both preceded him in death, along with his younger brother, Mike Bower, who saw Harold as his hero. Harold is survived by his loving and caring sister, Susie Hoffman (Mike). In Harold’s final days, he prided himself on “My only great accomplishment in my life, my two daughters, Kelley and Courtney!”. While we, Kelley Swiney (Tim) and Courtney Lewis (Rob), appreciate the sentiment, we are convinced it is only because we gave him his greatest joys in the five grandchildren he so very much cherished. Whether watching Wally, Brayden and B on the football or lacrosse field, listening intently to Mary’s stories and plans for the world, or listening to Lilly sing her heart out, his smile never faded when surrounded by his grandkids. He loved family dinners, hugs from his granddaughters and talking sports with his grandsons. While those of us left behind will forever miss his larger than life personality, his many entertaining life stories, and of course the many “H’isms”, we find great comfort knowing that he is in peace, but certain that he continues to raise all sorts of trouble as he watches over us until we meet again!
A Celebration of a Life Well Lived will take place on February 1, 2025 at Gallo’s on High (4215 N High Street, 43214) from 2-5pm. This get-together will be as he wanted it, “There should be no tears shed, only stories told, laughter shared and plenty of cocktails.”. A group toast will take place at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to the Kobacker House.
