Harold Joseph Wagner age 96, born July 1923, died December 30, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years Leonora; sons Michael (Diane) and Mark (Debbie) Wagner; grandchildren Rebecca, Max (Molly), Paul (Stefanie), and Alison Wagner; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Grant and George Wagner; brother Eugene and many nieces and nephews. Harold was a proud Army veteran of the WWII Battle of the Bulge where he was captured and endured for five months in captivity in Germany. He was especially proud of the Combat Infantryman Badge he earned for his service. When he returned from the war he continued work at The Ohio Bell Telephone Company from which he retired after forty-two years. Harold had a lifelong fascination with airplanes and flying and obtained his private pilot instrument rating in his early sixties. He was a member of the St. James the Less parish for sixty-three years where he was a past president of the Parish Council, lector, groundskeeper and handyman for many years. When his limitations prevented any other service, Harold returned to the job that he began as a child, he was an altar server at 8:00am Mass every Sunday right up until he died. For many years his trademark was his consistent answer to the questions, "How are you Harold?" "Almost perfect". As I told him I would do when this time came we can now strike 'almost'. Harold's family will receive friends 2-4pm Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Schoedinger North Funeral Home, 5554 Karl Road. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, January 6, 2020 10am at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel.
