

Harry R. Hauenstein, 77, of Columbus Ohio, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 27. Harry was born in Cincinnati on November 18, 1944. He was a graduate of Mariemont High School in 1965, Wilmington College in 1969 and received his master's degree from Ohio State University in 1977.
Most of his teaching career in industrial arts and business was spent with the Grandview Heights City School District. He was active in the school system and served as President of the Grandview Heights Education Association for many years before retiring in 1997. Harry also worked for many years for the Village Trophy Company.
All who knew Harry would attest to his love of athletics. He played football and basketball at Wilmington College and went on to coach football at both Grandview Heights and Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.
In addition to his coaching career, he was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. His love of the Cincinnati Bengals started while attending Wilmington College where he had a summer job working for the Bengals.
He married his beloved wife, Judy, in 1994 and they were devoted to the children in their blended family. They proudly went on to welcome 11 grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle (Hilmes) and William G. Hauenstein of Cincinnati, and a brother, William F. Hauenstein of Loveland, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by the children of their blended family, Dustin (Kristin) Hauenstein, Brandon (Christina) Hauenstein, Hayley Hauenstein, Matthew Hood, Aaron (Michelle) Hood, Elizabeth (Gregg) Schrock. He leaves his grandchildren, Ty, Alex, Drew, Ava, Quinn, Aiden, Clara Hauenstein, Peyton Hauenstein-Cline, Ella and John Hood and Carly Schrock. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Jo (Roger) Kephart, Jan Westpheling (David Garfinkel), Monica (Jerry) Jennings, and Marilyn Monder and a nephew, Alex (Siobhan) Hauenstein.
Also considered family are Robert and Esther Gregory, who have been their closest friends for many years.
Friends are invited to attend a brief memorial service at Schoedinger Funeral Home followed by visitation on Sunday, March 6, from 2:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Unit 170, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
