LTCOL Harvey G. Layman (USAF/RET), age 100, died on September 29, 2022, living his last days in Virginia Beach VA. Having grown up in the Great Depression in Kentucky, his hard scrabble upbringing left an indelible impression in his consciousness, and his demeanor. He was a WWII , Korea, and Vietnam veteran. After coming Home from serving our Nation, like many Americans, he joined the civilian workforce and built a Life for his Wife and two daughters. He was a gentle giant of a man - the first to lend a hand in any project, quick with focused, timely, and sage advice. No matter who you were, when he spent time with you, he made you feel as if time had stopped to allow you to savor the moment without distraction. Always finding a way to interject humor at every opportunity. Never withholding his thoughtfulness. Never limiting his effort, or his dedication, or his unconditional Love. We have all lost a Giant of a Man...the best soul among us. Outliving his beloved parents and siblings, he is preceded in death by his cherished wife Colleen, and his daughter Diane. He is survived by his daughter Glenna Kline and her husband Stan, and his grandchildren Tim Kline and his wife Magda, Christopher Kline and his wife Heather, Paul Widish, Gregory Kline and his wife Mary, and Georgia Hazzard her husband Jeff...and 11 great grandchildren...and 7 great great grandchildren. Private graveside service with Air Force Honors will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213. Arrangements Entrusted to SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232
