Vance. He is survived by daughter Nancy (Harris Goldberg) Johnson; grandson Jeffrey Johnson, granddaughter Vicki Perkins and great-grandchildren Derek and Carly of Reynoldsburg, OH; daughter Angela (Edgar) Russell and granddaughters Lori, Nancy
(Hani) Ibrahim, Dawn (Michael) Ma and great-granddaughter Angelina of Goleta, CA; son Terry (Lavina) Vance of Mount Vernon, OH, grandson Zachary of Las Vegas, NV, and granddaughter Sadie (Roger) Steffan of Springfield, OH; brother Joseph (Talitha-deceased) Vance; sister Ruth (Albert) Fields; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Heber was born in Hillsboro, OH, January 19, 1913, where he worked on the family farm, was an All-Ohio football player, married Louise in 1935, graduated from The Ohio State University, helped open Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO, received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and other citations as a Captain in the U.S. Army serving in Italy during WWII, retired from the U.S. Dept of Agriculture Farmers Home Administration as Assistant State Director, and traveled the world with Louise and granddaughter Lori in their Airstream RV, making countless friends during retirement.
He was a great man, a true gentleman and respected patriarch of his extended family, who blessed us all with nearly a century of his presence.
Friends may call at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
