Helen M. Bradford

Helen Marie Bradford, 82, went to be with the Lord at 1:59pm on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her home in Gahanna, where she passed peacefully surrounded by her family and two grand-dogs by her side. Helen was a remarkable woman, mom and friend. She came to Columbus at the age of 17 and started her career in banking which extended 20 years, along with being a wonderful mother. After leaving banking, she was a stay at home mom and grandmother. In 1990 Helen was a major help to her son starting Star Cleaners in Gahanna. Everyone knew Sundays at her home were like Thanksgiving! She was a wonderful cook and hostess. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Glenn H. Bradford and brothers, Dale and Melvin Disbennett. She is survived by her sons, Glenn Jr., Mark and Toney (Carma) Bradford; grandchildren Justin (Jess) Bradford, Heather (Skip) Ivory, Jenny (Scott) Green; great-grandchildren, Haileigh, Madison, Payton and Kennedy; grand-dogs Sadie and Princess; sister Donna (Jim) Thornton; brother, Marvin (Lovanna) Disbennett; many nieces and nephews; Helen’s dear longtime friend Arvella Jarvis; as well as Scott Merchant and Jeff Jungkurth who were like second sons to Helen. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice staff and to Helen’s niece Amy Thornton Lowe, whose nursing background and skills were invaluable to helping the family through Helen’s final days. We are forever grateful. Helen will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Family will welcome friends 1-4pm Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E.
