

Herschel is survived by children; Herschel (Cindy) Joseph Haines, Kathy Cook, and Scott Haines, William “Bill” (Tonia) Jackson, son-in-law, Brian Rhodes, daughter-in-law, Vonna Haines, grand children; Justin (Jess) Rhodes, Kati (Aaron) Coppock, Rachael (Scott) King, Barte Cook, Brett Cook, Grant Jackson, Leah Haines, and Josh Davis, great grandchildren; NaRyan Cook, Brandon Stevenson, and Aaron Rhodes, along with many other dear family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Herschel is preceded in death by, loving wife Judie Haines, son, Danny Haines, daughter, Tracy Rhodes and son-in-law, Leroy Cook.
Herschel graduated from Big Walnut High School with the Class of 1952. He dedicated many years of service as a tool maker at Metal Container where he retired. Fishing was Herschel’s greatest passion, bringing him both joy and peace throughout his life. He loved spending time on the water, taking family and friends out on his boat in search of the biggest walleye or perch. His love for the water extended beyond fishing, as he also became a certified master scuba diver, exploring reefs all over the world. In addition, Herschel enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot.
Above all, Herschel adored his family and treasured the time he spent with them. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family will be receiving friends Monday June 22, 2026 from 12-1PM at SCHOEDINGER EAST FUNERAL HOME, with a funeral service to follow at 1PM. Burial will be at Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Please share condolences or memories of Herschel with his family.
