

Homer L. Riley, age 96, passed away at home on Friday, January 5, 2018. He was born in Taplin, WV to the late John and Lona (Richmond) Riley. Homer proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a food broker for many years and stayed active in his retirement by helping others with their yard work, walking, and traveling. He was an avid Notre Dame sports fan and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Homer was a devoted family man with the unique gift of making each member of his family feel special and loved. He never met a stranger and truly valued the friendships he shared with his neighborhood family. In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Riley; daughter, Diana Douzian; brother, Lomer Riley and sister, Mary Collins. He is survived by his children, David Michael (Anne) Riley, Debbie (Ric) Ballinger, John Patrick (Judith) Riley, and MaryBeth (Joe) Jackson; son-in-law, Vartan Douzian; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., where a prayer service will begin at 3:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Rd. Msgr. William Dunn, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1379 Dublin Rd. Columbus, OH 43215.
