Howard A. Banfield, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a proud Army veteran of WWII where he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Howard was a member of Maize Road Baptist Church and enjoyed travelling. He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna; parents, Thomas and Virginia Banfield; along with 7 siblings. He is survived by son, Howard (Betty) Banfield, Jr.; daughter, Vicki (Rusty) Nitsch; grandchildren, Benjamin (Amy), Joseph (Karla) and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Banfield-Alexander, Christopher (Rachael) McDonald; step-grandchildren, Mandi Thomas and Craig Hood; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Lily, Ezekiel, William, Tanner, Taylor and Emily; numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, where a funeral service will be held at 4pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A graveside service will be held 12pm, Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Castalia Cemetery in Castalia, Ohio. Pastor Brett Castle officiating.
