Howard Charles Boquist, Jr., 64, better known as Chuck, passed away on Mar. 20, 2018 following a long illness. A Youngstown native, he was the son of the late Howard, Sr. and Ruth Erlaine Boquist. He is survived by his younger brothers Douglas (Deborah), John (Yvonne), and Randall; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
Chuck was a 1972 graduate of Wilson High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from the Dana School of Music, Youngstown State University. After a brief career teaching public school music, he went into advertising sales with the C. W. Martin Co. He later bought the company and continued to work until a short time ago.
Chuck's great love was music. He was an accomplished vocalist, keyboard artist and arranger. During his years as a Columbus resident, he served a number of churches and civic music groups either as director, accompanist, or participant. His most recent place of service was The Church of Saint Edward, 214 Fairway Blvd, Whitehall. The family is profoundly grateful to the St. Edward community for their affection and affirmation toward Chuck.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am, both at St. Edward's. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the church.
