

Ian Michael Oglesbee, age 23, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016. Ian was born on August 25, 1992 in Columbus, Ohio. Ian was a lover of music, science and philosophy. He began studying classical and flamenco guitar at the age of 6, adding cello to his string repertoire as a teenager, and ultimately anything string, filing our lives with music daily. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School, where he rowed Crew with his friends. His passion for science began with an obsession with astronomy as a child, spending most evenings mapping the stars. He graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State University in 2015, with a Bachelors of Science dual degree in Molecular Genetics and Neuroscience. He was looking forward to beginning a graduate program in the neurosciences at the time of his death. He was an avid cyclist, bicycling long distance and locally; Monday Night Ride was a highlight. He will be forever loved by his parents Michael and Barbara (Hogya) Oglesbee, his sister Alexandra Oglesbee, his grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, extended family and friends. Ian will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was a loving young man that we are all proud to call a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. A memorial celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:30 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, OH 43321, where a reception will follow until 5PM.
