

Irene worked as a riveter at North American Aviation during the war and worked for many years as the lunch lady at Bishop Hartley, where she retired. She was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Irene was a devoted wife, loving mother, and outstanding, active grandmother. She always had something to teach her children no matter their age. Irene related well to and was interested in people, put others before her, and could not tell a joke without forgetting the punch line. She made afghans for all of her grandchildren, loved to travel, play euchre, polka dance, and was known for her outstanding potato salad.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents, Bernard and Dominica Korpieski; sister, Mary James; and brother, Joe Korpieski. Irene will be missed by her loving children, Michael (Carolyn) Guzik, Mary (Bob) Henry, and Monica (Orval) Minniear; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley and Leo (Paula) Korpieski; sisters, Ceil Guzzo and Josephine (Richard) Koch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, located on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St.,. Lockbourne, OH, Fr. David E.
