J. Stanley Jones

J. Stanley Jones age 80, a resident of Upper Arlington, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at First Community Village. He was born February 5, 1929 the youngest son of J.W. and Wilma Jones. He was graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1947. Stanley attended OSU, where he met his wife, Marie. He was graduated with an Engineering Major in 1952 and married the same year. After college he was drafted into the Army. He attained the rank of Corp. serving as a Weather Specialist. He worked on classified assignments for Battelle prior to becoming an Administrative Manager for Scientific Advances, Inc., a subsidiary of Battelle and retired as Contract Specialist. He was a founding member of Tri-Village Jaycees and was a lifetime member of Upper Arlington Civic Association. Among his passions were antique cars and racing sports cars. He is preceded in death by his parents J.W. and Wilma Jones, his wife Marie Jones, brothers Justin R. Jones, W.W. “Bud” Jones. He is survived by daughter Karen (Bruce) Moody, sons Robert Jones, Andrew (Joy) Jones, six grandchildren, sister Ellen (Bill) Stetzelberger. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM at First Community Village with Pastor Jack Witherspoon officiating. Private burial will be in Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was a son, a sibling, a friend, a husband, and a father. He did the best that he could.
