

Dr. J. Nick Marzella, age 66, of Bexley, died Thursday, March 19, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Graduated with a BSJ and a Masters in Counselor Education from Ohio University, and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Veteran of the US Army where he served as a Psychiatric Specialist at the Ft. Gordon Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center from 1971-73. Owner of Association for Psychotherapy, Inc. where he was a long-time and well respected clinical and police psychologist for over 50 law enforcement departments and organizations. Certified Ohio psychologist and Forensic Examiner, and Board Certified Diplomate with the Academy of Pain Management. Former Chairman of the Psychology Section of Grant Medical Center. Former visiting professor at Otterbein College and Adjunct Professor at Ohio University and The Ohio State University.
Member of Scioto Country Club, Mercator, Ohio Psychological Association, Central Ohio Psychological Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Lecturer, public speaker, workshop leader, and noted author of numerous publications in his field. Preceded in death by his parents John and Jennie Marzella. Survived by wife of 46 years Nancy Allietta Marzella; daughter Amy (Aaron) Spiess, of Bexley and their children Jonathan and Sophia; brother Richard (Jennie) of Houston, TX, and their children Daniel and Alexandra. Family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8pm, Monday, March 23, at the Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 East State St. Funeral service 11am Tuesday, March 24, at St. Catharine Catholic Church, 500 S Gould Rd, Columbus, OH 43209
