
Jack Richard Graf, age 90, of Upper Arlington, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born April 19, 1919 in Columbus to Campbell J. "Honus" and Stella (Rogers) Graf. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Russ Annis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine "Kay" Graf; son, Jack R. Graf, Jr. (Kay); daughters: Holly Fries (Steve) and Laurie Chrisman (Dave); grandchildren: Andrew Graf (Amanda Sexton), Kate Victor (Matthew), Libby Graf, Joe Chrisman (Ashley), Chris Chrisman (Megan), Will "Biff" Chrisman, Laura Fey (Jason), Carolyn Fries, Mitch Fries and Maggie Fries; and brother, Campbell R. Graf (Lillian). Jack retired as President of Graf and Sons, Inc., a family business that his father started in l925. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1942 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a member of Upper Arlington Rotary, past president of Upper Arlington School Board, past president Varsity O Association, OSU Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee in football and basketball and was an assistant coach for both sports. Jack participated in 7 Final Four basketball tournaments, either as a player or a coach, including the National Championship in l960. He was voted football MVP in the Big Ten in l941. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Main Sanctuary at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43212, where the family will receive friends immediately following the service in Brownlee Hall.
