

James Edward Albert was born in Clearfield, PA. Completed High School in Chester, PA. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the Air Force on September 21, 1951. Jim, served in combat during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Jim, a Bronze Star recipient, retired as a Chief Master Sergeant on April 1, 1981 after serving his country for 30 years. During those 30 years, Jim married his high school sweetheart the late Ruth Elizabeth Albert (Darling Betty) on October 15, 1955 and raised four daughters Karen, Carolyn, Cynthia, and Marybeth. He was involved in Boy Scouts in his youth and then continued a lifelong passion for scouting. Jim spent his retirement years enjoying time with his family. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and has been known to drown a worm or two at the local fishing hole. During decent weather he liked spending time in his garage and watching the goings on in the neighborhood. He enjoyed making models and completing jigsaw puzzles and not one to turn down a competitive hand of cards with family around the table. He was always quick with a corny joke that did no harm. Jim was a lifetime member and frequent visitor to Motts Military Museum. Jim’s 90 years are full of memories as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim died at peace of natural causes at his home in Columbus, Ohio. Jim is survived by his daughters Karen and Jack Pressler, Carolyn and Karl Christensen, Cynthia and Jim Pence, and Marybeth and Ron Blankenship; his twin sister, Joan Ribeiro; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; longtime friends, Bob Wallace and Denny Green. Jim is predeceased by his “Darling Betty” Ruth Elizabeth Steever, his parents, Edmund and Sarah (Ardrey) Albert, siblings, Edmund “Burkie” Albert, Jr., Elizabeth “Betty Jane” Hinson, Robert “Bob” Albert, Leslie Albert, and baby Richard; many in-laws, and grandson, Jason Olin. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 24th and 10-11 am Wednesday, October 25th at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment to follow at Asbury Cemetery. Rev. James Pence officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Motts Military Museum, 5075 S Hamilton Rd, Groveport, OH 43125.
