James C. Basye Sr.

James C. Basye, Sr. proudly age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 23, 2022. Jim was born in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest of five children to the late Arthur and Ruth (Marshall) Basye. He served in the U.S. Army, retired from Pepsi-Cola after 41 years of service, and was a member of Broad Street Presbyterian Church for over 40 years, where he taught Sunday school for God’s Treasures for over 20 years. Jim enjoyed square dancing, camping, and bowling. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Basye; son, Jimmy Basye and siblings, Robert Basye, Richard Basye, Ruth Caplinger, and Patricia Schofield. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laurie Basye, Mary (Joseph) Robinson, and Scott (Christal) Basye; grandsons, Dominic Basye, Caleb Robinson, and Caden Robinson; sister-in-law, Nola (John) Taracko; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, January 13, 2023 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., and 9 am- 9:30 am Saturday, January 14th. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 am at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio 43205. Pastor Ann Palmerton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
