

James R. Boggs, age 85 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. Jim was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Herbert and Agnes (Mainetti) Boggs. Also preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Mary Boggs and sister, Donna Ebner. Jim graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Class of 1951 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Throughout his career, Jim worked as a mechanical contractor and was co-founder of Westland Mechanical. He was a member of Union Local #189 and the Shamrock Club. Jim was a very disciplined and hardworking man who was loyal, generous, and loving. He was humble in the way he helped others without ever asking for recognition and was most proud of his Irish and Italian heritage. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed going to auctions and never missed any of his children's or grandchildren's extracurricular events. He was a family man at heart, and nothing came before them. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Cathy O'Hara Boggs; children, Mike (Robin) Boggs, Patrick (Leah) Boggs, and Cathleen (Tom) Utgard; Cathy's children, Colleen (Tony Inskeep) O'Hara, Susan (Doug) Walouke, Mary Beth (Ed) Maceyko, and Michael (Veronica) O'Hara; grandchildren, Kelly, Anne, Emily, Alexander, Brendan, Judson, Nick, Shannon, Meghan, Abby, Maddy, Merissa, Julia, and Finnigan Dennis; longtime friend and business partner, Ron Carver; special nephew, Jeff Huffman; faithful companion, Carly; and many other extended family, including his loving cousins in Italy, and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Ln. Father Timothy Hayes, Celebrant.
