James Kenneth “Ken” Corwin, beloved husband, father, coach and friend, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 12, 2022. Born in 1949 in Columbus, Ohio, Ken was the only son and greatest source of pride for his parents, Jim and Polly Corwin, who preceded him in death. They raised him to serve his community, work hard, love the outdoors and put his heart into everything he did. Earning his Eagle Scout was an accomplishment that affirmed these qualities. At the age of 27, Ken married the love of his life, Susan, and together they built a beautiful life with their two daughters, who knew every day how deeply they were loved.
Ken, a Sigma Chi brother, graduated in 1972 from The Ohio State University College of Engineering with a degree in Industrial Engineering, further solidifying his lifelong love of the Buckeyes. He found great purpose and pride as a Limited Partner and National Sales Manager at SEA, Inc. where he worked for over 40 years traveling the country to meet and golf with his numerous clients, many of whom became dear friends.
Ken was an instrument-rated pilot, an avid golfer and devoted friend. He served in many roles over the years; as an usher and Sunday school teacher at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and as coach of his daughters’ many sports teams. However, his greatest service was always to his family – exemplifying deep love and devotion and the importance of faith. He cherished and adored his five grandchildren. His booming voice, huge personality and contagious laugh was a bright light and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan Corwin; his two daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Overmyer and Michelle (Patrick) Brane; five grandchildren, Katie, Caroline, Charlie, Cameron and Charlotte; nephew, Jason (Hannah) Thompson; sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson and numerous cousins and friends. Family will receive friends and family from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at UPPER ARLINGTON LUTHERAN CHURCH – MILL RUN, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026, immediately followed by a light lunch. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s name to Development Department, Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 2831 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115.
