

James passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at The Ohio State University East Hospital with his loving wife Hazel by his side.
James was born on November 25, 1928 to the late Wilbur and Evelyn (Jones) Howard in Huntington, WV. He graduated from Douglas High School in Huntington, class of ’46. He then entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII. In 1965 he went to work for Buckeye Steel Castings and was a dedicated employee until his retirement 29 years later. On January 9, 1976 He married the love of his life Miss Hazel Daniels, and they celebrated 34 wonderful years together. James was an avid Rook player, but what put a smile on his face was when his wife Hazel would walk into the room. James was a member for Ephesus SDA church for 19 years and a deacon for over 10 years. In the last years of his life he found spiritual comfort in reading his Bible daily. James’s smile, fun loving nature and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Along with his wife Hazel, James’s survivors include his daughters; Judith Scott of MD, and Carol Howard of Columbus; step son TeShawn Scott of Columbus, Grandfather of 7; great grandfather of 4.
Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister Emma Jean Redman.
Family and Friends may call at the Ephesus SDA Church on Tuesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm prior to the service.
