James Arthur "Jim" Kirk

James Arthur “Jim” Kirk, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 12, 2012. He was born in Jenkins, KY on May 9th, 1928. He graduated from Asbury College in 1952 and majored in English and Speech. In 1955, he graduated from Emory University Seminary College. He served several years as a Methodist minister and also retired from the Columbus Public Schools with 25 years of service. After retirement he worked for 8 years in the security field at Port Columbus International Airport. He was preceded in death by wife Patricia. He is survived by brother, Robert (Helen) Kirk of Conway, SC, son James (Jana) Kirk of Estero, FL, daughter Harriet (Mark) Carey of Spartan, KY, stepsons Nick (Marilyn) Lang of Pickerington, OH and James (Joyce)Lang of Sewanee, TN, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was grateful for steadfast friends, Lisa and Lance Williams of Pickerington, OH, Glen and Bernie Gram of Pataskala, OH, his friends in the Gideons, and the membership of his church family at Crossway Community Church in Kirkersville, OH. He was a man of great faith and put his trust in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Friends may call on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL 5360 E. Livingston Ave. where the funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:00AM. Pastor Glen Gram officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, Ohio.
