James Arthur Murray

James A. Murray, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2016 surrounded by family at Mount Carmel East, Columbus. He was born on June 26, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to Clarence and Ida Mae (Williams) Murray and was one of thirteen children. He graduated from Hilliard High School in 1948 and proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. He then went on to dedicate 34 years of service to General Motors. Jim lived his life to the fullest, touching everyone with his never ending Irish wit and his compassion for those around him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida Lee (Bostick), daughter, Karen (Skip), son, Brian (Patty), and daughter, Kathy; six grandchildren, Lucas, Rosalynn, Raelynn, Natalie, Spencer, and Ryan; four great grandchildren, Savannah, Georgia, Emerson, and Mason. The Murray family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Palliative Care/Hospice Unit at Mount Carmel East for the exemplary care in our time of need. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 11:00AM-1:00PM with funeral service follow at 1:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.
