James David Rose went on another adventure on Thursday, July 6, 2023, joining the love of his life Edith Loretta “Lori”. Jimmy’s first job was delivering ice (before iceboxes), his boss was Sicilian and had a penchant for colorful words. He learned lots of Italian words which came in handy when he traveled to Italy in his 80s. Back in the day, he biked to work several days a week before it was even popular to do so. He bought his first computer in the 1970s and continued to hone his computer skills to the end. Jim had a knack for finding food on sale and knew a bargain when he saw one. He was also inventive. He built his own telescope, a water distiller with an old pressure cooker and even built a steam engine miniature train. He always had tomato plants in the summer and was proud of anything he planted. He had many hobbies including playing bridge, star gazing, flying RC airplanes, paper ship building, reading, and as of late, at age 92, caring for his two turtles. Thank you to his special neighbor, Tony, for helping him and the companionship you offered. James is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Jim has asked to please take the people you love out to dinner, laugh so loudly you annoy the other patrons, and pick up the check in Jim’s honor. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.
