Jim had a life-long love of playing sports and following his favorite teams. He was very athletic & continued an active life hiking, biking, golfing, and playing tennis until his unexpected passing. Jim's work ethic was unrivaled. He pursued multiple paths throughout his work career always admired for his competence & commitment.
His great sense of humor & quick wit was much appreciated by his many friends & especially his partner of 32 years, Janice Knasel. He always looked at the bright side of life and brought his positive energy to any adventure. He was an avid reader and advocate for all creatures great and small.
Jim loved being a father. His pride and joy was his son, Jay Straker, who grew up with a dad devoted to his happiness and always ready to play catch. They were teammates, best friends and travel companions through the years. Jim and Jay shared a curiosity about the world and enjoyed being together in it.
Jim will be missed by his son Jay, his close friends and family members, and dearly missed by his partner, Janice.
