James Whitfield

James "Jim" L Whitfield, 76, of Westerville, passed away on August 20, 2021, at his residence. He was born on January 4, 1945, to the late Charles and Edith (Aller) Whitfield. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his grandson, Hayden Whitfield and his niece, Alexis Newman.

He was a graduate of Columbus North High School where he would meet his loving wife, Cheryl. For the majority of his working career, he worked for Edward Orton Jr. Ceramic Foundation where he worked as a production manager for 40 years. He was a tireless supporter of youth athletics having served many years as a coach and commissioner of Northern Columbus Youth Athletics (NCYA).

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife, Cheryl Whitfield; children, Ty Whitfield and Ryan (Angela) Whitfield; grandchildren, Emerson and Macallister Whitfield and Jennica (Tripp) Plaskett; great grandchildren, Jack and Rhett Plaskett; nephews, Scott (Lisa) Lineback and Greg (Lisa) Newman; niece, Brooke Lineback; brothers in law, John Newman; sister in laws Nadine Miller and Phyllis Newman; and lifelong friend, William Chase.

The family would like to thank National Church Hospice for the care provided during Jim's final days.
