James Leo Wirthman, age 67, of New Albany, Ohio passed away unexpectedly from a stroke Friday, August 10, 2018 while returning from another wonderful trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. He was born July 29, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio to Leo "Bud" and the late Nancy Wirthman. During his retirement, Jim was a loving caregiver to his parents until his mother's passing in 2017. Jim was a graduate of Bishop Hartley High School, Class of '69. He loved the open road and the adventure of seeing this beautiful Country on his Harley Davidson. Jim touched the lives of so many people, even as he went about his daily routine at the Heit Center, Meijer or Home Depot and if he could step in and help somebody fix something, he was happiest. His loyalty to friends was uncompromised. He also trained and loved dogs, and made sure to carry treats with him in case a four-legged friend crossed his path. Jim was an avid New Albany High School football fan, always present to cheer on his nephews regardless of the weather, location or day of the week. He was a fantastic brother to his six younger siblings. He was their friend, handyman and protector. In addition to his mother, Jim was preceded in death by his nephew Joel and niece Justine Wirthman. He is survived by his father Leo "Bud" Wirthman; siblings, Jeff Wirthman, John (Collette) Wirthman, Julie Wirthman, Joe (Kim) Wirthman, Jennie (Mark) Wilson, Jodelle (Bud) Tremain; nieces and nephews, Brittany (Stephen) Giebelhaus, Cassidy (Mark) Schlitter, Hallie, Gina (Ashley) Zirkle, Kelsey Wirthman, Connor, Ryan and Jack Wilson; special long-time friend Lorraine Ziegler; many relatives and friends; as well as his favorite dog friends: Maddie, Riley and Gigi. Family will receive friends 2-5pm Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Monday, August 20, 2018 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, located on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio; Fr.
