Jane was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 21, 1945 and passed away in Columbus, Ohio, on April 8, 2019. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Jane Rogers. She is survived by her husband, David Clark, and daughters; Jennifer Clark (Rick) Whatley, Julia Clark (Doug) Fruscione, Amy Clark Burns, and grandchildren; Allison, Evan, Amelia and Kailey, her sisters; Jean Rogers Fernandes, Marjorie (Glenn) Marrichi, her brothers; Arthur (Kathy) Rogers and Howard (Mary) Rogers.
Jane grew up the oldest of five children on the island of Grosse Ile, Michigan, located near Detroit. She graduated from Grosse Ile High School before attending Michigan State University where she was active in the MSU choir. While earning a degree in social work she met her future husband, David. Two weeks following graduation, they married on Grosse Ile before spending the summer on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Shortly thereafter, they settled in central Ohio where they lived for over 50 years. Although Spartan fans, they quickly became lifelong Buckeyes and attended fall football games together.
They found the perfect street to raise their three daughters and form lifelong friendships with neighbors. The friendships became so close that they all consider themselves the "Court Family". Jane stayed at home to raise their children and do volunteer work with the TWIG group of Nationwide Children's Hospital. Once their youngest started school, she began a 32-year career with Columbus City Schools as an instructional aide. She loved working directly with the children in Reading Recovery as well as the PEAK program.
During spring and summer breaks Jane and David enjoyed traveling. Two favorite destinations to visit were Ludington, Michigan and Lido Beach, Florida. Other adventures took them to Alaska, the Baltic including Russia, Libya, Greece, Italy, Germany, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
In her later years, Jane thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother to her four grandchildren. She was happiest hearing stories from them, reading to them, and shopping for them. The holidays were important to her, buying presents, fixing holiday meals and helping them decorate their gingerbread houses. Christmas was particularly special for her.
Even after becoming ill she was always eager to go shopping and out to lunch. She looked forward to her weekly dinner date nights with her loving and devoted husband, David.
