

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1924. Attended Walnut High School in Cincinnati, graduating in 1942. Graduated from Western College, Oxford, Ohio, in 1945. She had an internship in dietetics at Cincinnati General Hospital, and worked as a hospital dietician at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. There she met her future husband, Vol K. Philips, MD, deceased in 1993.
Janet was a registered dietician and a member of the American Dietetic Association. After raising a family, she worked as a consulting dietician to nursing homes in Columbus. Janet was a member of the Columbus Medical Association Alliance and Starling Ohio Women's Club, Western College Club, Tempo Unit of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Women's Guild of Opera Columbus, First Community Church, church couples circle #37and Bridge Club since 1956. Janet enjoyed camping, travel, symphony, opera, and art.
Survived by daughters, Catherine Philips (John) Henry, and Christine Philips (Barry) Phillips; and by her son Guy (Linda) Philips of Athens, Ohio. And preceded in death by her son, Vol K. (Lydia) Philips. Janet is also survived by grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, and Christopher Henry; Yuri, Iza, Allan, and Katherine Phillips; and Guy Clark III and Gwyneth Philips; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Janet was also preceded in death by brother, William L. Heinz and sisters, Jean Heinz Strasser and Joann Heinz Bender.
Visiting hours at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Interment at Union Cemetery.
