Jan was born on July 2 in the 1950's at Mount Saint Mary's Hospital in Nelsonville, Ohio. The daughter of H. Dean Vaughn and Doris A. Raver.
Jan married James (Jim) Puchan on June 10, 2000.
Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Doris A. Raver and in-laws James and Rose Puchan.
Jan was passionate about being kind and helping abandoned/stray cats and finding them homes. Several of these rescued cats become personal pets over the years. To say that Jan was a Cleveland sports fan would be putting it lightly. Jan was a passionate and loyal Cleveland Browns fan and a season ticket holder for 18 years. Jan enjoyed attending games as well as fan and charity events for the Cleveland Browns. Jan's passion continued in the workplace. She was a dedicated employee for 31 years at Abbott Laboratories (i.e. Ross Labs) where she most importantly became a friend to everyone she worked with. Traveling always involved visits to national and state parks where hiking and birdwatching were the focus; Jan has an extensive birding "life list".
Jan enjoyed visiting with her family and making any number of her homemade specialties to be enjoyed by all. Jan's passion for cooking inspired her to compile recipe books which included not only her own specialties, but recipes from family and friends. Jan would be the first to admit some of her famous recipes were simply great recipes from contributors to her recipe books. Thank you!
Despite everything that kept Jan busy and happy throughout her life, most important to Jan is for all of you to know that she loved every one of you who passed through her life. You shaped the person Jan was and in turn she would hope that she influenced your life in a positive way.
Jan is survived by her father, H. Dean (Linda) Vaughn (Canal Winchester), and stepfather, Paul E Raver, Jr. (Lancaster). Sisters, Deanna Vaughn (Columbus), Susan Vaughn (Lancaster), Michelle Morris (Homosassa, Florida), Cindy Vaughn (Pickerington), Kathy Vaughn (Jackson, Wyoming). Many loving nieces and nephews are spread across the country. Jan is also survived by three adoring cats: Lucky, Lexi, and Junior (all rescues).
