
Janyce Louise Dodson, beloved daughter of George Dodson and Blanche Dodson passed away April 22, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1942 in Columbus, OH. While Jaynce did not have any siblings or children of her own, she had many, many children through her years of teaching. Janyce attended Columbus West High School, graduating in 1960. She earned her Bachelor's' of Science in Education from the Ohio State University in 1964 and her Masters degree from Xavier in Reading Education in 1982. Her teaching career saw her at Eakin, Dana, Livingston and West Mound Elementary Schools until her retirement in 1997. Janyce enjoyed singing, sewing and crocheting in her spare time and traveled to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, Nova Scotia and many of the states in the West along with many areas of New York state. She was aldo involved in Twig of Children's Hospital in Columbus. Janyce participated in her church and was active at First Community Village where she has lived for many years. She will be remembered for her many quips such as "If somebody thinks they can do it better, then they should step up and do it". She will be missed by many friends at First Community and throughout Columbus. There will be a celebration of life service at First Community Village on Friday May 15, 2026 at 11AM in the Berkhart Chapel, 1800 Riverside Dr, Columbus, OH 43212. A prior Interment at Obetz Cemetery next to her parents has preceded the celebration of life service.
