Jean Ann Osborne, 97, Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 20, 2020. Jean was born in 1922 in Massachusetts, where she would meet her husband, Billy J. Osborne, while he was stationed as a soldier during World War II. Jean and Billy were married in 1943 in West Virginia, Billy's home state. Later that day they drove to the Great Southern Hotel in Columbus, Ohio, on their way to Michigan for a brief honeymoon visiting Billy's sister before he had to return to duty. Jean and Billy were blessed with a 72-year marriage and raised two daughters, Glenna and Carol. They moved from Michigan to Florida in 1956, where Jean cared for her family as a full-time mother and wife. When the family later entered the ranching business, Jean was known for her amazing ability to chuck hay bales and birth calves, though both probably weighed as much as she did. She was a fantastic cook and made a feast of chicken and dumplings every Christmas Eve that could feed an army. A first generation American, she also made delicious pierogies. She had God's gift with animals and grandchildren, and one of her greatest joys was spending time with her two grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. After Billy passed in 2016, Jean moved to Columbus to help with her growing family.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Carol; grandson, Tommy; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Audrey and Derek; and great-granddaughters Ellie, Joanna, and Sally.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Billy, daughter Glenna, and an infant son, William.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization of choice. A private service will be held for family.
