Jeffrey Scott Clifton passed from this life suddenly at his office on Monday afternoon, April 19. Preceded in death by his parents Donna Jean and James Scott Clifton. Survived by his wife of 36 years Stacia Shilliday Clifton, their children Jared and Zoe Clifton; sister Julie S. Clifton of Providence, Rhode Island; brother-in-law Jay (Melissa) Shilliday of Oakland, CA; sister-in-law Cindy (Dave) Rhodehamel of Columbus. Nephews and nieces Philip (Dilara), Peter and Penn Drukker; JJ (Robert) Garcia, Emma and Michael Shilliday; Lily, Clara and Eleanor Rhodehamel.
A graduate of Whetstone High School, Jeff attended Kent State and The Ohio State University. Jeff owned several successful businesses in the painting and papering industries, culminating with Classic Papering & Painting which he founded and co-owned with his partner of 30 years, John (Cheryl) McFarland. Past president of the regional chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, he was also a member of Columbus Rotary, where he chaired the “Service Above Self” High School Fair, as well as the scholarship program in which he led the initiative to paint a map of the United States on almost every Columbus City school playground.
He loved the Columbus Crew, photography, barbecuing (using his Big Green Egg grills), Sunday bread-baking and family dinners. There are very few organizations that did not benefit from Jeff’s and his company’s generosity.
He went to work every day “slaying dragons” to provide for his family.
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2, from 2-3 pm and 4-5 pm at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, where family will greet everyone outside on the Fireside Terrace. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 pm. Guests are asked to wear masks. If you choose, you can share a condolence and watch a live stream and recording of the ceremony at www.Schoedinger.com . Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Rotary Foundation, 950 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215, or a charity of your choice in his memory. To share a video memory, visit https://bit.ly/
