

Jeffrey A. “The General” Leesburg, age 63, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 30, 1950 in Columbus, the son of the late Kenneth Leesburg and Dorothy (Bell) Davis. Jeff loved being a police officer and helping people, retired as a sergeant with the Columbus Police Department following 39 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Joyce (Carter) Leesburg; children, Christina, Daniel (Andrea), Corrine, and Ryan Leesburg; his granddaughters, Kendra, Carissa, Bryce, Riley and Ella; sister Bonnie (Charlie) Coon, Vinton, Ohio; other relatives; sister-in-law, Jo Lynn (Gary) Stewart, niece, Stephanie; special friends, Leslie Lemon and Gary Householder and many friends. Besides his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by a brother Ralph Leesburg. He was a member of New England Lodge # 4 F & AM and Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and FOP Lodge # 9. Jeff was a Medal of Valor and Blue Star Award recipient along with numerous other citations and awards during his time of service. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed boating, horseback riding and had a way with animals, wild or domestic. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 pm Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street (1/2 mile south of I-270), where Masonic Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Vineyard Fellowship Church, 6000 Cooper Road, with Pastor Sue Burkett officiating. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
