Jerry J. Burgdoerfer

Jerry J. Burgdoerfer passed away on February 4, 2017, following a long illness. Born in 1935 in Connersville, Indiana to Edna "Peg" and Louis M. Burgdoerfer, Jerry was happily married to and is survived by his wife of 61 years Barbara J. (Hofherr) Burgdoerfer. Jerry was the father of four sons, Steve, Jerry, Jeffrey and Stuart, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jerry was a proud and accomplished graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, serving on its Dean's Advisory Council for 22 years and was recognized by the school as an Alumni Fellow. After graduation from IU, Jerry served as an artillery officer in the United States Army. He worked for a number of consumer products companies in his career, was the head of worldwide marketing for Hertz Corporation, served as the Chief Executive Officer for Berkey Photo Inc. and as a Board member for Avis and A.T. Cross. His leadership and service was also recognized by the Anti-Defamation League. He had a life-long passion for boating on Lake Tippecanoe and Candlewood Lake and on the ocean from Key Largo, Florida and Barrington, Rhode Island where he served as a Board Member of the Barrington Yacht Club. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at New Albany Presbyterian Church 5220 Johnstown Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054 on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org ).
