Jerry Lee Rudolph, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026. Born in Columbus, Ohio on September 10, 1945 to the late Howard J. and Lela M. (Cramer) Rudolph. Jerry will be remembered as a cherished and devoted presence whose kind-hearted nature was felt most deeply by those who knew him best. Jerry will also be remembered as having an easy laugh and a great and comedic storyteller who enjoyed his stories as much as he enjoyed telling them. Jerry served as a police officer for the Columbus, Ohio Division of Police for 30 years and bailiff/deputy sheriff for Madison County for 29 years, where he worked with the many men and women he enjoyed seeing and talking to every day. His profession of choice reflected a steady commitment to duty and to the community around him. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a proud member of the Buckeye Sheriffs Association, affiliations that spoke to the professional bonds he valued and the respect he held for those who serve. A man who loved his family and never missed an opportunity to tell them how much he loved them, Jerry carried that devotion through every season of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Rudolph; his son, Ryan W. Rudolph; his brother, Lee Rudolph and nephew Terry Rudolph. Jerry leaves behind his son Jerry (Jeanne) Rudolph II; grandchildren Caitlin Rudolph, Trey (Hannah) Rudolph and Regan (Nick) Deville as well as great grandchildren Henry, Carson, Niko, Theo. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jerry found simple joys in the things he loved—Harley Davidsons, taking long drives, his trips to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, talking to his friends and family, his snacks and pop, an occasional rum and coke and pancakes—small comforts and familiar favorites that remain tender reminders for family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at 223 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 350, Chicago, IL 60606. Visitation will be held on Monday June 15, 2026 from 11AM to 1:30PM at the Advantage by Schoedinger – Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 where the funeral service will start at 1:30PM. Jerry will be laid to rest next his loving wife, Carolyn.
