Jessie James Prater, age 66, died March 14, 2015 at Grant Medical Center. Jessie was born in Greenup, KY on June 17, 1949 the son of Charles and Mary Jane (McKenzie) Prater. Jessie proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed country music was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed playing Santa Claus to the children at Christmas time. Along with his parents, Jessie is preceded in death by his son James Ronald Prater and his brothers George Prater and Danny Prater. Jessie is survived by his wife Edna Prater; son Michael Edward Prater; and brothers Bob Prater, Terry Prater and Frank Prater. Friends may call 9-11am Saturday, March 19, 2015 at the Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus; where a funeral service will follow at 11:00am. The inurnment will be held at 9:00am, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
