Jo-Ann Pfeifer Tabor

Jo-Ann Pfeifer Tabor, age 80, went peacefully to the Lord on December 22, 2009 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 14, 1929 in Columbus, the daughter of the late Gertrude (Strickland) and Howard Pfeifer. Jo-Ann proudly graduated from South High School in 1946 and Capital University in 1965. She was a dedicated teacher for Columbus Public Schools and an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Ohio, where she sang in the choir, served with Mary Circle, greeting many with a smile and a hug. Jo-Ann loved being involved in Capital University Alumni Chapter, Columbus Education Association for Retired Teachers, Franklin County Retired Teachers Association, Marion Square Singers, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and was a cheerful giver to many causes. Jo-Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard and Edwin Pfeifer (Margie Cofer), and several cousins. She will be greatly missed by family and her many cherished friends. Jo-Ann is survived by her loving husband, John, her children Richard (Anne) Tabor, Liesa (Steve) Ritter, and Tina (Duane) Blackburn; her grandchildren Jericho (Cass) Tabor, Malcolm (Petra) Tabor, Jeffrey (Tracy) Ritter, Sarah (Kevin) Ely, and Michael (Jean) Ritter, Thom (Shae) Blackburn and Angela (Mark) Cantwell; eighteen great-grandchildren; niece Barbara (Bob) Dawley and nephew Charles (Janet) Pfeifer; and a host of friends. Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday, Dec. 27th at the Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. On Monday, December 28, her funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 730 Collingwood Ave. Family will receive visitors from 10:00-10:45 am.with the service at 11:00 am. Internment to follow immediately after the service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
