Joan Holly Gerhard

Joan Holly Gerhard, age 91, died peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2020 in her apartment at Villas of St. Therese in Columbus, Ohio. Joan was best known for her kind and cheerful spirit, wit and energy. She enjoyed a very spiritual life, viewed life as a blessing, and went to mass every day. Joan was born in 1929 in Newark, NJ, to John and Elizabeth Porter Holly. She married George Rodney Gerhard in 1951. In 1957, they moved from New Jersey to Columbus, Ohio, where they raised two girls and three boys. She is survived by her children, Deborah McBride, Ginny Burnell, Greg, Glen and Dean Gerhard; her brother, John Holly; four grandchildren, Steven, Holly, Grant and Alex and two great grandchildren, Bridger and Teddy. A burial service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in the spring. The family wishes donations be made to the wonderful Sisters and Staff at Villas of St. Therese c/o Carmelite Sisters, 5199 E.
