

Joan E. Jackson, age 70, born October 19, 1939 in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late George and Alice (Simonton) Simms, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at home. Joan graduated from Nelsonville High School where she excelled in Home Economics. She worked a short time for Western Electric and then for the Hilliard Schools in cafeteria work but Joan was primarily a homemaker. She loved cooking and sewing and family activities. She also found enjoyment in hunting, fishing, sports, and collecting coins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, George Jr., Henry, Joe, and Kenny. Joan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald Jackson; children, Georgia (Steve) Pease, Jeffery (Cynthia) Jackson, and Thelma (Gregory) Blanton; grandchildren, Amber, Michael, Justin, Courtney, Joshua, Rachel, Madeline, and Dallas; great-grandsons, Collin, Cameron, and Christian; sisters, Wanda Ricciardo, Lorna Barber, and Janet Harp; brothers, Phillip (Roberta), Danny (Nora), and Terry (Kim) Simms; many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL 3030 W. Broad St. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at Southwest Freewill Baptist Church 1542 Greenleaf Rd. Pastor Freddy Dutton officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield, Ohio.
