Joan Elizabeth Jenny

Joan E. Jenny, age 69, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Sunrise Senior Living of Worthington. Joan was born on February 28, 1943 to George and Hazel (nee Scheaf) Jenny in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up in the Westgate neighborhood and graduated from West High School. Joan attended Capital University and received her Bachelors Degree from Valparaiso University. She was a dedicated Elementary School Teacher for 30 years at Highland and West Broad Street Elementary Schools and dearly loved by all of her students. Joan belonged to Glenwood United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir. She was also a member of Verse Writers Guild. She was a gifted musician, poet and artist. Joan was loved and cherished by all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her loving family including her siblings, Margaret (James) George, Thomas (Beth) Jenny, and Jack (Laurie) Jenny; 7 nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-6 pm at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43204. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at GLENWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2833 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, OH 43204 where visitation will be one hour prior to the service with Rev. Sharon Beattie officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Glenwood United Methodist Church in Joan’s memory.
