Joan Marin, age 91, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 25, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Marin. She is survived by her children, Michael (Mary) Marin, and Barbara Marin Wavrek, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Alvarez-Breckenridge, Ashley (Ben) Simon, and Justin Wavrek, and her great grandchildren Giuliana, Sebastian, and Christina Alvarez Breckenridge. Joan was a strong, intelligent, vibrant woman much loved and admired by her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She treasured her grandchildren and was so proud of them. And she adored her calico kitties, Abby, and Callie. Known for her hospitality, bright personality, beautifully musical voice, and her pies, Joan was a woman of many interests who enjoyed being with friends. She was a lover of crossword puzzles, Mahjong, the French language, and the game of bridge, playing with the same group of friends for over 50 years. Joan also liked to travel and enjoyed lasting relationships with friends she met on a trip to San Diego many years ago. Two of her favorite experiences were a trip to China and a trip with her granddaughter to France. Joan was also an entrepreneur, developing and managing two businesses while raising a family. Whether known as Mom, Grams, Grandma, Mom-Mom or Aunt Joan, she will be deeply missed by her family. Joan requested private arrangements which have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL. If desired, contributions in her memory may be made to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum or the Columbus (OH) Humane Society.
