

Joan K. Mitchell, age 85, of Upper Arlington passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014 at First Community Village. Joan was born on April 4, 1929 in Washington Court House to the late Harold and Pauline (Spade) Kellogh. She was the youngest sister to 4 brothers, Don, Steve, Kermit and Jack. Joan was a graduate of Washington Court House High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in 1951 from The Ohio State University School of Music. Her love of music lead to a lifetime of singing and playing the piano. She participated in Alpha Xi Delta while at OSU and was an active Alumni member after graduation. She spent most of her career at Bob Webb Realty as a Real Estate Agent. Joan was a member of First Community Church for over 55 years. She loved her time in Florida and spent many days enjoying the ocean air and walks on the beach. While in Florida she volunteered for the PGA World Golf Village. Joan was an avid reader and a published author of personal memoires. She is survived by 3 sons, Geoff (Peggy) Mitchell of Columbus, Brian (Carol) Mitchell of Richmond, VA and Cameron (Molly) Mitchell of Upper Arlington; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Private family interment will take place in Washington Court House. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
