JoAnn Barnett

JoAnn Barnett, age 93, of Dublin, Ohio, prominent business owner of The Holiday Beauty Salon and Boutique, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 in Dublin. She was born on September 1, 1932 in Junction City, Ohio to the late William and Elizbeth (Noll) Sweeney.

JoAnn was a graduate of Junction City High School and Capital School of Beauty Culture in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the Robert Frank Institute of Hair Design and Fashion in New York City. From there her career would span over 70 years as an award winning hairdresser.

JoAnn first observed William Barnett directing traffic (Columbus Police) at State and High Street while attending beauty college. As fate would have it, they became neighbors and were married in June of 1953.

Together JoAnn and Bill built Holiday Beauty Salon in 1955 at 3413 E. Main Street in East Columbus, Holiday Boutique was later incorporated with the salon at multiple locations throughout the city. Holiday Beauty Salon and Boutique still holds business at their Bexley location at 2550 E. Main Street.

JoAnn and Bill together for 56 years were a great working and well-deserving traveling team. Their adventures took them all over the world.

JoAnn is survived her son, Michael Barnett; granddaughter, Hayley Rogers (Trent); great-grandson, Ryan Rogers; nieces, Cindy Kelly, Crystal Huff (David); and great-niece, Clare Huff (Charlie Cataline).

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Barnett; sister, Patricia Kelly; brother, John Sweeney; and grandson, Anthony Barnett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025 at St. Catharine Catholic Church, 500 S Gould Road, Columbus, Ohio 43209, where family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of mass at 11 AM. Private Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Junction City, Ohio.
