Joanne was born March 22, 1936, in Newport, Washington to Dewey and Beatrice Huot. She grew up enjoying the beauties of the Northwest, having her first piano lessons from her mother, and graduating from the University of Washington-Seattle, with both a BA and MA in music. As she pursued her passion for classical piano she enjoyed the privilege of instruction and lifelong mentorship from many piano performance luminaries including Everett Fritzberg, Madame Rosina Lhévinne, and Hans-Erich Riebensahm. Moving to Princeton, New Jersey, for work she met her future husband, Dan Hall, at church. The minister who introduced them married them on June 15, 1969. They eventually settled in Columbus, Ohio. Over a 67 year career of piano performance and teaching, including 32 years with Capital University's Conservatory of Music, she introduced the joys of classical piano to hundreds of young and young at heart students. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Daniel Hall; daughter, Sarah Hall, Lt Col, USAF Ret.; sister, Barbara Magleby of Priest River, Idaho, and numerous friends, nieces, and nephews.
