Joanne Johnson

(Abigail) Joanne E. Johnson of Upper Arlington departed this life on February 16, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Epple in Gallipolis, Ohio. Preceded in death by brother, John, formerly of Madison, WI, and daughter, Jill. Survived by husband, Ernest Johnson, son, Walter Johnson of Gahanna, OH and daughter Amy (Kevin) Scott of Johnstown, OH, along with grandchildren: Tyler Johnson, Bryn and Hunter McKnight, Alexander, Emily and Evan Scott, and nieces: Toni Galarnyk and Tami(Glen) Roskilly of Wisconsin. Joanne was a 1944 graduate of Gallia Academy. She earned her teaching degree from the Ohio State University, graduating in 1948. For a couple of years she taught school in Columbus at Stewart Avenue Elementary. On December 23, 1949 she married ‘Dr. Ernie’ and was the love of his life for the next 62 years. Joanne was a long-time member of Riverside Methodist Church and loved her Lord faithfully. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Joanne loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially at her favorite vacation spot of Sanibel Island, FL. Her kindness was beyond measure and she brought much joy and love to the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at Riverside United Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Road, with Rev. David Greibner officiating.
