Joe Reiff

Joe Reiff, passed away on April 2, 2013 at the age of 23. Joe was a 2008 honors graduate of Upper Arlington High School and a 2012 honors graduate of CCAD. He would never admit that he was the marvelous artist he was. Drawing was his passion. He expressed his inner beauty in his art and left a piece of himself in every work. Joe was beautiful inside and outside. We always proudly said that he was kinder than anyone we ever knew. Joe did not have an unkind bone in his body. He was Buddhist at heart. He loved all living things. He never stepped on bugs; he loved dogs, especially his dog of 14 years, Barney, and every other animal. He was a vegetarian and his final act of kindness was as an organ donor. He didn’t always understand the hard ways of the world and in turn the world rarely had the vision to grasp his beauty. Joe, his deceased brother, Teddy; his sister April and her husband Paul and their son Paul are the joy of our lives. As his parents, Richard and Gail, we give special thanks to his long -time friend, Robert Monsarrat and to the love shown by the entire Monsarrat family. He leaves numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Reiff family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd. in Upper Arlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road, Columbus. Father Daniel Ochs, Celebrant. Cremation will follow his services. In Joe’s memory, Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026 or to the CCAD Student Benevolence Fund, Attn.: CCAD Advancement Office, 60 Cleveland Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215 in Joe's memory.
