

John was the youngest of 4, born on February 27, 1961, in Toledo OH to Roy William (Bill) Babcock and Judyth (Stohl) Babcock. From the time he was small, the family had Newfoundlands and John adored his dogs. He started playing football when he was 8 years old, and he loved it. He played until he graduated from Bryan High School in 1979.
John moved to Palm Springs, CA in 1980 and began his 40-year career with Marriott International. He had an incredible work ethic, worked in a number of large convention hotels -Desert Springs, San Francisco, San Diego, Vail, San Francisco Airport, Los Angeles Airport, Phoenix and back to the San Francisco Marriott. He truly enjoyed planning events and talking with his customers (and family and friends) about food and wine.
John’s love of football carried on throughout his entire life, as he cheered on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and San Francisco 49ers and competed in Fantasy Football Leagues. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach, working out and riding his bike.
John is survived by his mother, Judyth Babcock, his siblings Deborah Gabel (Rich), Wayne (Paige Allen) and Chris (Sue), his spouse, Darlene, his two sons, Christopher and Sam, and his nieces and nephews. John is also survived by Chris (Helen) Giuntoli, his best friend of 35 years who was like a brother to him. John was a kind, warmhearted person who loved his family and friends deeply.
John was cremated and private services will be held in in Burt Lake, MI and in Pacific Beach, CA upon his request.
