John Fuller Brand

Jack graduated from University School in 1950 and went on to attend The Ohio State University, where he met his future wife, Jan. While at OSU, he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and earned his bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1954. After graduation, Jack joined the Army and was assigned to the photography unit, where he used his creative talents to help document the Korean conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career in the family business, J.M. Brand and Son, a wholesale harness and leather supplier. In 1957, Jack and Jan were married in Fairborn, Ohio.

Jack was engaged in his community. He was a member of the Aladdin Shrine, Brutal Brothers, Royal Order of Jesters, and High Twelve. He also was a member of King Avenue United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Bell Choir. Jack enjoyed playing bridge, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and listening to music. A gifted piano player, he shared his love of music with family and friends throughout his life. He will be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and the joke he always seemed to have ready to tell. After his retirement he and Jan spent their time traveling the world and enjoying their five grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Jan and will be greatly missed by his family, daughters Susie (Jeff) Drerup & Nancy (Jon) Whybrew and his grandchildren Ashley, Kelsey & Sydney Whybrew (Markus) and Max & Kaylee Drerup. He is also survived by his niece and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and Jerry Tilton.

Visitation will be held from 3-4 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4pm on Friday, July 31, 2026, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children (please see the link below) or the charity of your choice in his memory.
